Singapore Green Plan 2030

Buildings account for over 20% of Singapore’s emissions. We help our stakeholders seize opportunities in greening their buildings and facilities which is key in achieving the nation’s sustainability ambitions under the Singapore Green Plan 2030, and to fulfil international commitments on climate change.

Measuring and tracking carbon emissions is essential before implementing reduction strategies. Emission scopes—categorised as Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3—help to identify and analyse the sources and behaviour contributing to emissions. This categorisation simplifies the process of measuring and tracking emissions, providing a clearer framework for effective management and reduction efforts.

Types of Emissions

Scope 1

Refers to the direct emissions that a company owns or control.

Example: Emissions from power generators owned by the company.

Scope 2

Refers to the indirect emissions a company causes from the production of the energy it purchases and uses.

Example: The emissions generated by the production of electricity used in the company’s buildings.

Scope 3

Refers to all emissions not included in Scope 1 and Scope 2, originating from a company’s value chain.

Example: When the company buys, uses, and disposes of products from suppliers.
